DVD Decoder?

I'm a novice at this but when I put in a DVD movie Windows Media Player says
I need a decoder. Is there a freeware one out there or another way to go
about playing DVDs on my laptop?

Since you said your a novice, you may also need a program to unpack 7zip
files, might I also suggest TugZip @ http://www.tugzip.com/
