Durring XP Boot process, the PC beeps numerous times

When I turn on my computer and it is running through boot process just before
it starts to load the programs in the system tray, the computer beeps 3 to 4
times. Now this is more anoying then anything but I heard this could meen
that there is a virus or something in my system although Nortin doesn't pick
anything up.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem or what the cause could be?
Thank you in advance!

Peter:

I am pretty sure that John meant that the booting process is nearly over
and his notification tray is filling up. BIOS is long gone and beep
codes for BIOS wouldn't be helpful.

John:

One of my computers has done this also in the last three weeks for some
reason. It appears as BING BING (pause) BING. I know it uses the
"ding.wav" file as I have changed it temporarily and the sound changes.

I have investigated it for several weeks and found nothing whatsoever to
cause this. Using MSCONFIG I have shut down everything that starts
automatically, one by one, and still it persists. My next move is to
try and see if it is some sort of service that is ringing it's chimes.
Failing that, the next thing to check is that maybe one of the drivers
is trying to send a message of some sort.

Since the computer appears to run well, and ZoneAlarm does not tell me a
strange program is trying to "phone home" I have mostly forgotten about
it as "just one of those things that drives you nuts but will not be
solved".
