Dell Machine Beeps 30 Times

My Dell Dimension 3000 Beeps 30 times at 12:13 every night. The rest of the
time it operates fine. What is causing this, and how do I stop it? It
continues even if I unplug the machine.

Machine specs are: Intel Celeron running at 2.66 Ghz. with 512 MB of RAM.
Operating System is Windows XP Home. Computer maintenance, Anti-Virus, and
Spyware Programs are up-to-date.

Once the power is removed from the PC, at the most it should only take about 10
sec. for all the power to dissipate. Once all of the power is gone I see no possible
way anything let alone noise emanate from the machine.

Are you sure you don't have anything set on a timer somewhere in the room that when
heard it appears to be coming from the PC?

Pull the cover off the case and see if you can pinpoint where the sound may be
coming from. I still don't see how it can produce sound without any power, yet we've
all seen stranger things develop here and there.

Sorry, i might have the wrong end of the stick, but duznt the motherboard
have a battery to keep time and stuff whilst the computer is without power?
might be a hardware issue with you MB? just a total guess though.

Do you use an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) to connect your equipment to the wall power?
They will beep when they are self checking.

AFAIK it only retains the CMOS configuration settings which includes the date/time.
I don't think it has enough power to do much else, especially monitoring the
internals, but then again that's another who knows.

Nice thought Richard if the OP does use one, it's software is installed and
configured to test every night w/sound turned on to warn when power is lost. Which
reminds me I should run a test on mine which I do manually w/o any sound, it does
however make a buzzing sound which I can actually put up with more than those damn
beeps.

All good responses and thoughts guys! I'll try your suggestions, but it may
be a week or so. I'll be away for a few days. I'll make sure that I get
back to you when we resolve the issue.
