Dragging multiple icons, faded view

A

Atreju

This really annoys me and I'd like to shut it off.
When I highlight many icons and drag them to a new location, during
the drag, they don't all appear. Usually it is only one or two and
they fade away with a gradient.

Who the %$#& at Microsoft thought "Hey, let's hide things from the
user so they'll never know what the hell is happening?" Isn't the
point of dragNdrop to VISUALLY move/copy files? What the hell is the
point of visual feedback if it is faded away?!

Sorry for ranting, someone please tell me how to turn this off so I
can actually see everything I'm dragging.

Thanks.

Right click the Desktop | Properties |
Appearance tab | Effects button |
Check: Show window content while dragging |
OK | Apply | OK

[[Specifies whether to display window contents as you move or size it. When
this check box is cleared, you can see only the outline when you move a
window.]]

This works for icons as well!

Ok my settings were like that, and I disabled and re-enabled it just
for good measure.

The thing is, for up to 4 icons, they all appear, but any more than
that, they are all faded/gradient when I drag.

Could there be a way to remove the fade no matter how many?
Used to work on 2000.

Follow-up. Doesn't even work on 4 icons in Windows Explorer, only on
the desktop.

Really weird.
Also, in "Tile" view, even 1 icon is faded!

Latest ATI drivers installed.
