I have a Toshiba P15-S409 that I purchased new in December, 2003. It runs
Windows XP Home.
Shortly after placing the computer into use, my son was able to burn music
cd's through Windows Media Player with no problem.
Currently I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to burn Data (folders, files
and pictures) to the same type CD's (Imation CD-R.) The computer is
requiring me to use a software called Drag N Drop CD & DVD to burn these
CD's and I'm not having any luck. I get a variety of results. The CD's
burn, however, I get an error that they are no longer of recognizable format
on my Toshiba. (Interestingly enough, they are recognized on at least one
other machine - my work machine that is an IBM compatible, generic laptop)
Sometimes the Toshiba will recognize the disc, but all the files have been
burned to one track called "Track00.cda" and cannot be read. I've burned up
about 12 discs with no luck on my Toshiba.
I would like to disable, or even un-install the Drag N Drop program and
return to Windows XP's built-in CD writing Wizard. Is this something I am
able to do? Or will I lose all ability to burn cd's?
Where can I find the wizard?
