Drag and Drop to CD burner stopped working

I had to install a program, to burn a disc from an ISO file, to update the
firmware on our server harddrives last Friday. Since I did that I can no
longer drag and drop files to the CD burner. I continually receive a window
saying "Windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file. What do
you want windows to do?" Then it gives the file information (I tried many
different files and file types to eliminate the simple problem) and three
choices for retry, skip or cancel. In all cases I just need to eventually
cancel. I checked properties on the drive and it is showing cd recording
capabilities turned on. Is there some hotfix or some way to restore whatever
may have been killed when I installed the program to burn the ISO file? I
did uninstall the ISO program to try and help make the problem easier to fix.

Thank you for your time and consideration

Try at,

Line 23, right side. Run the script from allow cd burn options.

Sorry, that didn't work either. I tried 5 different restore points and none
worked. I just found out when I insert a blank CD into the drive I get the
error "E:\ is not accessible Incorrect Function" Should I just strong arm it
and rebuild the whole machine?
Thanks again for all your help.

Well, maybe, but it still might be something simple being overlooked. I
wouyld try the 'recording' checkbox.

Right click the CD in My Computer click Properties/Recording , check "Enable
CD recording on this drive."

What program did you use to burn the ISO file?
See if this article has any bearing on the problem.

try this option out first
Right click on your dvd drive in explorer, then click properties. After
that, you should see a tab named "settings". In that tab I had Instantwrite
settings, so, I unchecked every option on that tab, then rebooted, and I
havent had a coaster since

or you can try this option out
You already have a program which can move files back and forth between the
two computers - it's called WinXP. Either right-click > send to (burner
drive), and follow the prompts, or just drag it over, and follow the prompts.
Or use the Windows Help function for more info on 'burn a CD'. It is done in
Sessions, and the disc will be appendable unless closed (see Windows help).

However, if you have some CDs that were formatted for Packet-Writing, you
hve some CDs that are at great risk of losing their data or becoming
unreadable. Use either WinXP's burning to copy to your Hard Drive and re-burn
using WinXP, or use DataProject in ECDC 5 to do the same.

Thank you for all your help. I have tried everything anyone recommended and
that did not fix the problem. I coundn't be without a working CD burner for
very long so I just broke down and re-built the machine. Everything works
fine now and while I don't think anyone will ever know how to fix the problem
I had, I know what caused it so I can avoid it in the future.
