Dr. Watson...Who invited him?

I recently had to re-install my OS and since I had to re-install SP1, I
finally decided to go with SP2. I figured, what the heck, it's been long
enough. The bugs should all be worked out, right?

Well since this re-install of my OS and the addition of SP2, I have been
visited A LOT by this Dr. Watson guy and immediately afterwards the computer
locks up and I have to do a hard reboot.

What the heck does the error box "Dr. Watson Post mortem debugger" mean? Is
it spyware? What is it for and how the heck do I rid my computer of it?
Thanks.

No, it is a debugger and has been part of Windows for a very long time. You
get rid of it by curing the problem(s) that cause it to be invoked.

Um, SP2 is SP2 - the same original one that came out ages
ago. There have been patches after SP2 which you should get
from WindowsUpdate if you haven't done so.

Basically, he is telling you to uninstall SP2... That is what is causing
your problems... Not just for you, but thousands of others as well...

SP2 is working for millions of other people, so the problem is not with SP2.
The OP may have something else wrong with their Windows XP.

When did the problem start? After you installed SP2, no? There's your
answer to what is causing the problem...

I don't know a single soul that has actually not had at least one problem
after installing SP2. Some are just luckier than others to the extent and
severity of it...
