My HP notebook is only a few months old. So it is practically new. I talked
with HP tech control and they tell me that my notebook accepts CD and DVD
discs. Again here is what I did.
1. Inserted my CD/RW in my side drive. Than I clicked "computer" to look
for the drive. On the bottom of the screen it says "zero." In other words,
nothing on the CD/RW that contains the photos.
2. On the top screen it just says drag your photos here and the rest of the
screen is blank.
3. Question: How long will I have to wait for the CD/RW that contains the
photos to run up? Whereas, when I placed this same CD/RW on my HP "PC" unit
with Windows XP, I have no problem at all.
4. Its very frustrating to not to know what is going on.
5. Anyway I really appreciate your infor and anymore you may have. Thank
you.
Here's what you should see. Anytime you insert a CD or DVD that has
something on it into your CD/DVD drive it should take anywhere from
about 20 to 45 seconds to spin up and then display a new window titled
AutoPlay. Depending on what software you have installed on your system
you should see several options in the AutoPlay window.
For example mine shows Import pictures using Windows, Play using
Windows Media Player, several other choices, then Open folder to view
files using Windows Explorer.
Do you see the AutoPlay window and if you do what happens when you
click "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer"?
Assuming your CD/DVD drive letter is "D" (change if not) go to Windows
Explorer click on that drive letter, then right click, properties,
what if anything is shown on the pie chart and categories used space
and free space and total capacity of disc?
If your CD/DVD has image files on it they should show just like
looking at any hard drive listing. If they don't, either something is
wrong with the drive, how it is configured, how the data was written
to the CD/DVD, etc..
