Download Updates to disk?

Shadyfella13

Is there a way to download Service packs and windows
updates to a folder for later download. I would like to be
able to burn them onto a disk at work and take them home.
I do not have access to internet at home and need to
install critical updates drivers and service packs to my
XP home edition because of hard drive failure and hence
replacement.

Yes there is. On the windows update site, look for the link
in the lefy pane called "configure windows update". Click on
it and check the "Show windows update catalog" and save
changes. From there you can open the catalog and navigate to
the updates and download them to an downloads folder. Once
the updates are downloaded, you'll need to shorten the
folder names or eliminate some in order to burn to cd.
What I did is to move the files to 2 subfolders called
'critical' and 'recommended' - Of coarse you can dl these to
the folder names I gave then reposition the actual installer
to the main folder level, so you will have a structure like:
Critical>update1, update2, update3, update4, update5
Recommended>update1, update2, update3, update4

To finish you'll need the sp1a file which can be obtained
through
