Download problem

Jonathan

For some reason I have started having a problem
downloading files in general, no matter which browser I
use. Sites that I can use my Download Manager, GetRight,
with are no problem.

If I use a site where I can't use GetRight the download
box just sits there not actually doing anything, I don't
even get a box asking me where I want to put the file.

I have a similar problem when I try to download streaming
audio or video I get an error telling me that it can't
find the file.

I know it's not GetRight, as I've tried disabling it and
I get the same results as above. Does anyone have any
suggestions.

Files in general or a specific file type?
If it is only .exe files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
[Q303401]
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;303401

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.exe

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
The key does not normally exist.
