Very strange problem with IE 6.0

I'm running Windows XP Pro with IE 6.0.

The problem is something which I've never come across. Its very strange.

1) The IE downloader is not working. For some unknown reason it the
downloader get stuck for few minutes retreiving the file information, and
afterward it shows the message "IE was unable to open this site". Although
if I download the same link with GetRight or other download managers its
working fine.

2) When you right click any link a popup is displayed. But when I choose
"Open in new window" the link doesn't seem to work properly. The new browser
opens, but doesnt load the link.
In another word if any link opened in a new window thru this command or
javascript "window.open" doesn't seem to work.

All the above problem can be solved by opening a new account in Windows XP.
Only my current account seems to get these problems.
As a personal challenge I want to fix above problems of my account. Can any
one tell me how to do it.
Thanks in advance.

The #2 problem can be solved by simply registering the urlmon.dll
Can u tell me how to solve #1 problem ?

An another post (please don't do that) you report that re-registering
Urlmon.dll fixes, at least temporarily, #1. I'm afraid you'll need to
update your IE at Windows Update to fix it permanently and to fix #2. In
fact the machine is very much in need of several updates.

Make certain your anti-virus application and (in your case) firewall is
disabled before going to Windows Update. Do you get any messages of any
kind when WU scans for updates? Look in 'Windows Update.log' for errors.
Compare these errors and any other messages you get with those listed at
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/.

Post problems using WU to
