DOS aplication problem

I need to run a MSDOS application on a XP machine, but when I try to run the
MSDOS aplication hungs on startup... I tried it on several XP machines (all
with SP2) and the program worked on half of them...
The machine I need to make the program work is a new installation of XP with
SP2. I found that when I start the aplication and it hungs, if I don't close
the windows and start the application again, the second starts succesfully?
Any idea to do the program work at first atempt?

Right-Click on program and go to properties. Change the compatibility mode
which may fix the problem.

Try the 'Compatibility Modes" that XP has.
