domain AND workgroup set up

In reading tutorial, I would like to have multiple users on XP workgroup while also having access to a domain. The tutorials seem to read workgroup OR domain. Can you have both running on same system?

No - only one at a time. Where's the workgroup, and if it's in the office,
why have it at all - why not just join everyone to the domain?

I would like to have home workgroup with separate sign-on for my wife's email, documents etc, and still have access to word domain. Possible?

"word domain" - please explain what you mean. If you are logging on to a
domain you need a domain controller running 2000/2003 Server.
