Doest FASTW have to be done right away, after installing Windows?

Do I have to run File and Settings Transfer Wizard intall the first
thing or so after installing Windows?

Or can I run it just about any time? Or at least after I've used
Windows for a while, and dl'd, installed, and run non-Windows
software; written data to the Application Data folders?

I've been assuming that it must be done right away, but maybe that's
not true.

No: only if you wish to transfer data (files and settings) from one
PC or configuration to another PC.
Or can I run it just about any time?

Yes, whenever convenient.

Yeah, sorry. I absolutely want to do that. Thanks for your answer.

Great. That will make life much more convenient, even if I have to, or
I find it preferable, to spend some time merging folders.

IIUC, it doesn't merge identically named folders, it renames one or
the other as nnnn2 or nnnnn(2) or something. And I can find all
these "duplicates", even if it takes time, and if there would be
identically named files after I merge them into one folder, a) that
won't be too likely if I do this early on, and b) I can decide on an
individual basis what to do about each one.

Should I suppose the registry will have to be adjusted too when I
eliminate folders named nnnnn(2)?

m&m,

You don't do right away, you will need to reinstall Windows. All files be
it corrupted.
