Doesn't read a blank CD

Drive D: or Drive E: will not read a blank CD-R or CD+R. It will read blank
CD RW & DVD RW. Both drives will play any media. I have recorded lots of
music and made copies in the past. Now every time I put a blank CD in to
record, it ejects right back out saying to put a blank cd in.And I have tried
different brands too. I have this problem with Media Player and with sonic
record now. It will work if I use a CD RW or DVD RW.I just can't figure out
what has happened that I can't do this now. I am quite niave when it comes to
working on this computer. So if you can simplify answers,it would be much
appreciated. Thanks for any help that anyone can give.

Hello again,
I still haven't found a solution to my problem. I see I'm not the only one.
I tried restore at an earlier date, when I could record, thinking maybe that
some configurations were changed some how. I have tried everything! I thought
of buying other software, but not sure if that would solve the problem. It's
doubtful. I wish there was some one to help us. We would be so thankful if
some one had a solution!!

I have the same problem with my backup program. It will not let me clean off
my DVD-RW disk but will write to a DVD+/-R. It tells me that the disk is not
a rewritable disk and can't be reformatted. I can't work out6 a solution.

It reads all my disks and will play them as well.

Regards,
