Doesn't anyone know how to help fix this problem?

I can't run the add/remove for Office 97. Not from the control panel, not
from the CD, and not from a copy of the CD on a seperate partition. I can
run the CD on a differen computer.

setup.exe will not run on the Office 97 CD. It will not run when I copied
the CD to a partition. It will run normally on a different machine.

Help please.

Is it a problem with Windows installer, or is something else preventing the
setup to run. Also in the add/remove control panel, the setup will not run.

The Office programs are already installed and running. I just wanted to add
the Office Assistant to Word.

Help. Any ideas???

well, the folder for
office 97 can simply
be deleted.

unlike the newer versions
of office, its integration
is not as complex.

after the folder is deleted
you can then run a registry
cleaner to remove any
orphaned entries. however,
this step is vital.

in regards to installing
office 97 again, i am not
sure what is causing the
difficulty.

perhaps it is your antivirus
or perhaps microsoft
incorporated a kill switch
covertly or perhaps office 97
is simply incompatible
with the more advanced
programming.

what you might want to
try is to boot into safemode
and see if your office 97
runs/functions normally.

only microsoft software is
safe enough to run in safemode,
all other software cannot.

I didn't really want to delte the programs. I just wanted to add the Office
assistant for word. All the Office 97 programs are running just fine.

I did disablel AVG anti-Virus, with no joy.

I did try the add/remove control panel in safe mode, but clicking on
add/remove Office 97 did nothing.

Thanks.

Thanks, I'll have a try there.

I did that a few days ago but only got one suggestion, which I had already
tried.

Thanks.

maybe your cd
is faulty.

perhaps one of
these will jumpstart
the feature.

here is more info:

unfortunately other than the
above, spending additional
time on this outdated program
would not be beneficial.

as you may know, since its
release office has come a long
way.

there are even free office-like
softwares with more advance
features like this one:

Not the CD. The CD work in a different computer.

The add/remove control panel does nothing except show an hourglass for a
minute then nothing.

perhaps one of
these will jumpstart
the feature.

Ofiice 97 does everything I need. It is also compatabile with Office 98 on
some of my older Macs. Don't need more.

Office 97 works fine. Just can add or remove parts.

Thanks.
