Does XP SP2 support ASPI?

I use an old but reliable Fujitsu ScanPartner 15C which requires a
SCSI interface. This device and its Fujitsu drivers require an ASPI
software layer.

The 2002 Adaptec ASPI software worked with XP SP1. Post SP2 update
device manager shows the scanner as a "?" item. I cannot seem to fully
install the ASPI layer: aspichk.exe shows WOPOST.EXE and WINASPI.DLL
are not installed. I will try a hand install next week.

Is anyone aware of a problem between XP2 and Adaptec's ASPI layer?
Does Microsoft distribute their own ASPI layer for XP?

Thanks!

I assume that you have looked in the Support & Download section of the
Adaptec web site??

The latest version of ASPI is version 4.71.2
http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/su...h+US&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&prodkey=ASPI-4.70

ALSO, remember that you can have "firmware" hardware upgrades (flash ROM) to
the SCSI adapter card itself, in addition to drivers for the Windows
operation system. In the "old days" (1980s), I actually had to replace the
ROM chips on the Adaptec SCSI cards to accomplish a firmware upgrade.

Yes, thanks. I should have made that clear -- first place I went. It's
quite old now.

I take it ASPI is working ok on your SP2 machine?

thanks!

I used ForceASPI to install an older version of ASPI under SP2. This
time ASPICHK.EXE ran without errors.

However I still cannot get XP SP2 to work with FUJI TWAIN installer.
I'd like to hear from anyone who's gotten a Fujitsu 15C scanner
working under Windows XP SP2.
