Does Windows Vista write to DVD - and + RW disks?

Over the years I've had more computer problems with data (not music)
writing to CDs and DVDs than everything else put together. Yet it's a very
basic computer function. After fighting forever with crashes and failures
instigated by third-part writing software, how I longed for the simple drag
and drop functionality we used to have with floppies.

So can someone tell me, has Vista incorporated this basic drag-and-drop
CD/DVD writing functionality? If not, I'll never move to it, because it's
the thing I wanted most.

Other than that one glaring deficiency, I think XP is a terrifc OS and I've
been through them all--except Vista.

Well, in XP you just have to right click and send to:
I assume Vista will be the same?
Anyone?

Thanks for the reply Housetrained, but in XP you can only write to DVD/CD -
or + RW using third-party software such as InCD or Roxio. What I want to
know is whether or not drag-and-drop writing funtionality for DVD/CD writers
exists in Vista.--

Hi Don,

I made a quick test for you, just to be sure.
Yes you can write to DVD, both by drag&drop and the send-to-menu.
You can also (via a right-click) format & clean rw-DVDs that have been
burned before with data or whatever.

I am discovering all the Vista goodies myself, and I can assure you : it's a
great OS !

Hope this helps ?

Hi Geo:

Terrific news! I'll be migrating to it with my next computer.

Many thanks Geo.
