Does my address book have to include all my contacts?

Some of my address book listings do not have any other contact information
but an e-mail address. Why does this person need to be in my contact list?
I'd like to keep my address book seratate from the contact list

I don't think you understand. There is no address book in Outlook. The
address book is merely a dynamic display of the electronic addresses in your
Contacts Folder. All data resides in the Contacts Folder. There is nowhere
else you can store it. --

The Address Book in Outlook contains no data at all. It's just a view of
your Contacts
folder(s).

The Outlook Address Book is not actually an address book. It is a
placeholder directory of whatever contact-type folders you include in it.
You right-click on a contact-type folder and can enable the option under the
Outlook Address Book tab as to whether or not you want that contact-type
folder included. If you have multiple contact-type folders, you should
label each with a different name so you can differentiate them when
selecting which one to default to or use when viewing the Outlook Address
Book object.

You can more than one contact-type folder, and you can select which to
include or not include in the Outlook Address Book.

The Windows Address Book (.wab file) is an entirely separate address book.
