Does Fp2002 work with Win XP Pro?

M

Martin

The Win XP Pro IIS server does not seem to work with Fp2002.

When a website is accessed with Fp2002, an error message comes up claiming
Front Page Server Extensions are not installed. However, Fp server
extensions are installed.

Any help will be appreciated.

This happens when I try to upload a web folder in Fp2000. It seems also that
Fp2000 can not see the IIS server and thinks it is not running. The reverse
also seems true, IIS thinks Fp is not installed. When using IIS MMC and
clicking "Open with Front Page", a message appears saying I need to install
FrontPage?

What happen when you use File Menu | Publish Web and enter
http://www.yourdomainname.com and your login info?

If this is local, then you need to be open the web as File Menu | Open Web
and enter either http://localhost or http://machinename or http://127.0.0.1
to access the local web server. Also under IIS MMC, have you actual check to
be sure the extensions have been applied to the default web, under Windows
XP Pro or Windows 2000 Pro, if Windows 2000 server, etc. then has the
extensions been applied to the actual web site.

It is local and I have tried opening the web as File Menu | Open Web and
using http://localhost . This is when I get a fp error message saying "The
web server at http://localhost does not appear to have FrontPage extensions
installed. Using IIS MMC if have checked All Tasks|Check Server Extensions
and this comes up with "No problems found". Is it possible that I have the
wrong version of server extensions installed. ( I also have the
Microsoft.Net Framework SDK installed as well as Microsoft SQL Server 2000
Desktop Engine).

Martin,

Sorry, I can not duplicate this issue with either the FP2000 or FP2002
extensions. However do you have any firewall applications install that could
be blocking access to Port 80?

I also have never been able to launch a site from IIS MMC in FP under either
Windows 2000 Server or Windows XP Pro, so I don't think that is a issue with
this issue.

Also, I do not have .net or SQL server installed on either.

Thomas, thanks again for the reply. I downloaded Fp extensions 2000 from the
Microsoft website and installed it. Now the "All Tasks" menu in the IIS MMC
shows both Fp server extensions and Fp2000 server extensions. It now also
finds and loads Fp2002 from the "All tasks menu". However, it now seems to
not be able to find some dll's and htm pages it is looking for when I try to
do maintenance. (If I search on my machine, I can find copies of the dll's
though). I am going to try uninstalling Fp server extensions and start from
scratch. I would appreciate if you could maybe give me some guidance on how
to uninstall everything to start from fresh. Thanks. - Martin.

I would now re-install the FP2002 extensions from MS and this should resolve
any missing dll issues, etc.
