DLL file, cannot delete. AVG 7.5

I am trying to clean up my computer and have uninstalled the AVG 7.5 trial version. Now I am left with a folder & file called Grisoft -> AVG7 -> avgse.dll

I have tried to delete with the "add or remove programmes" tool and by clicking & pressing delete but I am told Access is Denied.

After this I tried loading Windows in Safe Mode & deleting again but with no luck.

I have used Spy-bot and Ad-Aware to try and remove the file but they are not finding it.
Some similar posts say their file is 0kb, mine is 45kb.

My OS is Windows XP Professional.

Any ideas??

Hello!
Your simptoms point out on Trojan virus.However, I can't determine if I am right because you haven't posted a HijackThis Log.
Click here to download HJTsetup.exe

• Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
• Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
• By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
• Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
• Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
• Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
• At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
• Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
• Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
• Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
• Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
• DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Please, open HjackThis again and place a check next to these lines:

Nothing serious, so no Trojans were found.
That certainly helped because now I am sure your non-ability to delete the folder isn't caused by viruses.
However, if you want to get rid of that folder, please follow the instructions very closely!



Boot into Safe Mode

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.

• If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
• Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
• Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
• Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
• Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
• Login on your usual account.

Now, go to the folder you want to delete and do it.
Note: There is a trick if it does not allow you to delete a file. Create new folder right next to the folder you want to delete. Now, put ( cut and paste ) that folder in NeW folder, next to do is put the New Folder to desktop ( cut and paste again ) and then move it to the Recycle bin Smart, always works.

Hmm. Not always!
I have done that and now I have a new folder sitting on my desktop which steadfastly refuses to be deleted! Any further tips or advice please?
