Disupted large LAN file transfers

Win XP Pro SP3
When transferring a number of large files,
sometimes file manager in the middle of the
transfer announces that the destination no
longer (does not) exist, and the transfer stops.
Essentially this means for one reason or
another, connection with the receiving computer
is lost. This is a WiFi LAN. Are there settings
that can be made to (the registry or elsewhere)
that allow maintenance of connection? Even for
the WiFi router, are there
threshold/fragmentation/bandwidth, etc. settings
to the router that make transfers more stable.
In my situation, the WiFi signal to both
computers in question is five bars/excellent.
Thanks.

Hi
Check the Power Saving configuration and set it to Not to save Power.
Large files is a broad relative term, if the transfer is heavy P2P type it
might saturate the Connection.

Thanks. Setting(s) adjusted on both of these
transfer machines to power save disable. Now
attempting to do the transfer again. Large files
=thirty plus files at several gigabytes each.

Using the Windows Explorer GUI is not exactly the best way to
transfer/move/copy such a large amount of data, you should take a look
at Robocopy for these kind of large data transfers.

Use a fault-tolerant file copy mechanism such as ROBOCOPY. A disruption of
connection can be caused by any source of interference within range, no
matter how strong the router/PC connection is. The interference only needs
to be strong enough to disrupt the signal briefly.
