Distribution lists

Barryjt

I find that I can only get about 20 names in a distribution list. I
understand that the number depends on the file size of each entry. How can I
find the file size and reduce it? (Simple language please!)

R

Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]

You have provided no information. No such limits exist. Provide clear
evidence that supports your contention. We have no idea what you are
actually doing and what has left you with your conclusion. Be specific and
include versions and information store.

B

This is copied from The Help Section of Outlook 2007:

The maximum number of names that you can include in a distribution list
depends on the size of the contact files (for each contact) themselves. There
are no hard and fast rules but in general, a distribution list can contain
between 50-70 names and e-mail addresses. A maximum number of e-mail
addressees, with minimum contact file size, is approximately 125, and this
can include other distribution lists.

For more information see the Knowledge Base article on the maximum size for
distribution lists.

I just wish to know how I can reduce the file size and so increase the
number of entried in my DL.

Try removing some of the information in the contact records.

R

Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]

This does not apply to all DL's. In what information store are you creating
these DL's? In general, it is poor practice to create DL's with more than a
handful of members unless you are creating them in the AD.

Russ, I'm not very computer literate. I just click on new, distribution list,
add members and then save.

If I send and email to one of my dl's and also to 2 or 3 single addresses at
