Distribution List Flaws

I recently wanted to set up a few distribution lists and gave up quickly
after seeing how flawed the creation process is. And this is the problem:

Finding names in an address book that has a few hundreds entrys is very
hard, especialy if you don't know every name but want to find names based on
other criteria because the search feature in the Distribution List creation
form is terrible. It does not offer any of the features that the search in
Outlook itself has.
What's even worse is that one can not drag and drop names from contacts,
where finding names is easy, into Distribution List or use the context menu
to add a name to an existing or new distribution list.

This is something that should be addressed by Microsoft in the near future
since there is a number of e-mail applications that do this much better.

Never going to happen. DL's are not robust or reliable and have never been
developed or improved. They have never been a preferred method for grouping
Contacts in Outlook. Few people use them. Look into the more preferred
grouping methods such as Categories or separate folders.

No wonder they are not a preferred method of grouping contacts because they
are very poorly implemented and a pain to set up. Done right, they could be
extreemly useful and people would actually start using them.
I frequently send e-mails to same sets of people that work on specific
projects. DL's would make that much easier to do.
Categories are great but lack of subcategries limists their use greatly and
having 10's of folders is not a good solution either, it's more of a hack
than an actual feature. Microsoft hasn't added anything useful to outlook in
years.
