Distribution list Delete button should have a confirmation dialog

E

Ed D

When editing a Distribution list, there are 3 icons in the "Actions" section.
Save & Close, Send, and Delete.

The problem is when editing a distribution list, you commonly have a large
list of contacts you have added to this list displayed below these icons. If
you want to remove a single or multiple entries, you must select each
individual user and press the "Remove" button.

However, if you mistakenly press the Delete button instead, it deletes THE
ENTIRE distribution list - without any warning!

It's something I have still not committed to memory - that the "Remove"
button is different then the "Delete" button - so I've lost my distribution
lists multiple times. A simple "Are you sure you want to delete this
distribution list" pop up window would help save plenty of headache!

Won't happen. Instead, why the DL is moved to the Deleted Items Folder, not
deleted, so you can retrieve it.

Neither does deleting a mail message or calendar item or contact or some
other entry cause a warning unless it's a permanent delete. Why should the
deletion of a DL behave differently than the deletion of any other Outlook
item?

At least those items go to the "deleted items" folder. Is there a way to
have DL's go to the deleted items folder or an archive folder?
Thanks.

Don't understand your question. DL's already do go into the Deleted Items
Folder.

Thanks for the reply. For some reason, they don't show up in my "Deleted
items" folder. I've seen other posts in similar threads say the same thing.
Could there be some setting that turns that action on/off?

No such setting and repros on the behavior you describe.
The problem people report is that they delete the entire DL when they hit
Delete within the DL. They think they are just deleting a member, but the
action applies to the DL, not a member. It still goes to the Deleted Items
Folder, which they may empty inadvertently not realizing they deleted their
DL.

They do go to Deleted Items. Because they tend to be older, then may more
difficult to find. Sort the Deleted Items folder by the Icon column and you
may have better luck seeing them.
