Distorted Sound with DV-AVI

H

Help

When I record from my camcorder to my computer my audio
files are not distorted when I record under DV-AVI.
However, when I bring a file down into the
timeline/storyboard section the sound becomes distorted.
When I record with any other option my sound is fine.
Could this be because it does not record at 44.1khz? How
can I capture footage with the same high video quality and
retain the natural sound that I should get?

When you save the movie to dv-avi file after editing and play it in wmp, is
it ok or still bad?

After I edit it and play it in either Windows Media
Player, MM2's player, or winamp, all three give me
distorted sound. However, before I move the file to the
timeline and preview it the sound is fine. Even if I don't
edit footage and just move it down from the preview area
to the timeline area it gives me distorted sound! What
should I do??

Yes, its coming from the camera firewire port into the
computer. If I use anything else other than DV-AVI
everything works fine. If All else fails, which other
format would best suit my needs for transferring
video/audio from tape to dvd?

It's possible there is a codec conflict. Try

As dv-avi is such a high quality file the only other thing I can think of is
that the pc cannot keep up with the demands. What are the specs? DO you turn
off everything else during capture, such as
internet/a-virus/firewall/screensaver etc, is the hdd a seperate one from
the O/S drive? Is it defragged before capture? Try windv, link here,
