Display problems

Hi guys,

Something happened... I came to my PC after a few minutes, and the monitor
showed as off. I rebooted, and as soon as it booted to the WinXP Splash
screen, I had many different colored lines thru it. As the boot process
progresses, the lines get worse and worse, until it gets to actual windows,
and then blank, the monitor shuts off.

I booted into safe mode, no problem though, everything looks good as it
should. I am on the PC right now actually. The monitor itself seems fine,
and the PC seems okay, I think. I did reload the latest driver from NVidia,
and same thing. I have a GForce GTX6800 Card of that makes a difference. I
came here thinking that possibly the OS might be doing something funny
maybe??

What do you guys think? Bad card or what?

TIA,

Doug

Hello,

It is most likely a hardware problem - either the monitor or the video card,
since you mention that the defect appears at the XP Splash Screen (with the
moving progress bar).

Swap your monitor for another one and see if it is reproduced - if yes,
highly likely that it is your video card, if not, it is your monitor.
