Display media player controls in PowerPoint 2003

I would like to display the media player cotrols, rather than just the movie,
inside a PowerPoint 2003 slide as I would like to pause and play an 11min
instructional video many times in the course of a presentation and also write
on the screen with my tablet stylus. I remember on older versions of
PowerPoint there was an option to display the controls or not...I don't see
that anymore.

First, you will need the control toolbox to be displayed.
Click View > Toolbars > Control Toolbox.
On the toolbar, click on the last icon which should be "More Controls".
Scroll right to the bottom and select Windows Media Player.

Now, you will be able to insert the player at any of the slides.
To do so, you can either click on the slide, or click and drag to a
preferred size.
A properties screen should appear. If it doesn't, right click on the player,
select properties.
Under (Custom), click on the empty field which then displays a three dots
button. Click on the button. Now, you will be able to select the file name or
url.
Is that what you want?

Rob,

While you can do it this way there really is no reason to complicate the
presentation so much. You can insert the video in the usual manner, draw a
couple of buttons (boxes) and use them to control the video.
