HI peeps

Got a new Compaq Presario 908ea a while ago and tried to install windows 98
and xp..xp is working fine but the 98 ,it has a problem with display drivers
so it goes into safemode everytime..
The graphics card i have is ATI mobility Radeon i tried it from the compaq
and ati website ,they seem to have the drivers for xp and not 98 do u know
anyother place where i could download drivers for Windows 98 ??

If not how can i make 98 work with a 1024 resolution with the existing
displaycard..i mean a default settings from the win98 CD..??

Thanx in advance
cheers
Reddy

That graphics card is to new, thus it won't work in win98. Drivers were
never made for win98 cause the card didn't exist then. And most likely if
they don't have drivers out now for it so it can run on win98 then they
never will. Win98 is six years old now and making drivers for a soon to be
obsolite operating system is not cost productive. Why do you need to use
win98 anyway? Most all win98 programs run in xp fine.

Only suggestions would be to upgrade to xp pro so you can use IIS and keep
your current graphics card. Or get an old card that works in win98 and use
that. Or use a web server like apache on xp home.

Or use the standard video driver that comes with Win98. While it will
not support the features of the video card, it will run (or at least
it should).

That's the problem. They can't use the win98 standard vga drivers. It boots
to safe mode when they try.
