Disk Cleanup

Chad

Windows XP Professional
Whenever I run Disk Cleanup it hangs on Compress old
Files. If I then cancel it, I can't get it back unless a
log off and then log back on. When I pull up task
manager cleanmgr.exe is always running in the
background. I would like to see what is being deleted.
What do I do?

Hi,
Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Volume
Caches\Compress Old Files

Remove all the keys under "Compress old files" to get this cleanup
program to run to completion.

Or you can use this regedit from here:

Disk Cleanup - Compressed Files

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
