Disk Cleanup Help!

I usually run my Disk Cleanup about every couple of
weeks. I've tried to run it several times this week and
the little green line goes about 1/8 of the way..and will
not go any further. It won't complete the calculating
process. I've left it on for hours and retried it over
and over. Nothing. Any suggestion?

Could you explane a little more? Does it seem to stay on
scaning compressed files? If so that is where the problem
is, then go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp-
tweaks.htm go to line 48 amd on the right side it will
be able to uncompress your files so you will be able to
do a diskcleanup then. Hope this is right.

Hi

It's hard to gauge what is happening at 1/8th the way through as different
users will have different options enabled in Disk Cleanup.

It is hanging at "Compress Old Files". I tried going to
the http: website you listed and it says "Bad Request" -
Page cannot be found. Sandi.....

From a previous post:

The .reg fix basically just eliminates the option from Disk Cleanup. Unless
you're really tight on disk space, it's unlikely that you'll miss it. If you
do want to do some compression, you can do it manually in Explorer.

Manual edit:

To solve the problem where Disk Cleanup fails to complete the "compress
old files" option, go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\VolumeCaches\Compress

I read on Microsoft's site awhile back when I had the same problem that sometimes Disk Clean up won't work if you have bad temp files.
I think you go to run, type in %temp%
And select all
And delete
And then try running disk clean up again
