Disk Cleanup - Compressed Old Files

I have 2 Dell Desktop systems running Windows 2000
Professional with the latest updates to Service Pack 4.
The first system I purchased nearly 2 years ago is an
OptiPlex GX240 (1.8 GHz) and the other system I just got 2
months ago is an OptiPlex GX60 (2 GHz).

I regularly perform "Disk Cleanup" and "Disk Defragmenter"
and check for updates to Windows and other Microsoft
software like Office 2002 and etc. My problem is
that "Disk Cleanup" on the OptiPlex GX60 takse over 8
MINUTES to scan the computer for files to clean. Almost
all of this time is spent scanning "Compressed Old
Files". This amount of time is extermely annoying -
especially when my OptiPlex GX240 only takes 3-4 SECONDS.

1. Where do the Compressed Old Files come from? Again,
this system is only 2 months old. (NOTE: I have never
seen Compressed Old Files on the OptiPlex GX240 in the 2
years I have had that system).

2. Is there an option or setting (referring to Compressing
Old Files) that I can disable so I can get "Disk Cleanup"
to finish in a reasonable amount of time (seconds - not
over 8 minutes)?

Thanks in advance for your assistance in this matter.
Joe
