Disk Cleanup and NTFS

I recently converted my XP Pro disk from FAT to NTFS and installed MS Office
2003. Everything is fine except for the Disk Cleanup utility.

When I try to run Disk Cleanup, it hangs on "Scanning: Compress old files"
with the processor running at 100%. I have left it running for 2 days - just
for the hell of it - but it does not progress any further. I turn the virus
scanner off when I do this.

Any ideas anyone?

TIA
Andrew

Try the following web sites for troubleshooting suggestions:

Visit http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp tweaks.htm and scroll
down to Line #48. In the right-hand window, click on
"Disk Cleanup - Compress Old Files Freezes"

Simply click on Kelly's fix, download the registry fix, then run it.
(Note: Disable your antivirus program before running the repair script)

That fixed it - thank you.

BTW the kelley's Korner web page is different to your description - I got
the fix from the MS link.
