disk check on start up - please help

Hi,

I have a problem.

Every time I start up my PC it wants to do a disk check which takes
ages to run

through.

Even if I let it go through the disk check, the next time I start up,
it wants

to do another disk check even though I do a proper shut down.

I know you can cancel the disk check by hitting space but this is a
nuisance.

Is there a way to overcome this problem or disable automatic disk
checking?
