Windows XP Professional Start Up Disk

When I try to create a Start Up Disk, I get the message "This disk is not
formatted. Do you want to format it now?" I click "Yes" and also check the
box to have it create a Start Up Disk. Eventually it reports that the format
is complete but it does not copy the system files to the floppy disk (at
least it does not report that it has copied the system files to the disk).
Then when I try to read the disk I get another error message "This disk is
not formatted. Do you want to format it now?".
Why doesn't it copy the system files to the disk after it finishes
formatting the disk? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanking you in
advance, JungleJi,74

XP doesn't require a floppy startup disk--the CDs are self booting. To
install XP, go into the BIOS (watch the boot screen for the key to press to
enter setup) and make sure the CDRom drive is set as the first boot device.
Then reboot with the XP disk in the drive and follow the on screen prompts.

That floppy disk is defective. If you've tried with other floppy disks and
gotten the same result, the floppy drive is defective.

I'm not sure why you want a floppy Startup Disk with XP. The XP installation
CD is bootable. The Startup Disk is only used if your computer has a faulty
boot sequence. Is this your situation? If yes, try a different floppy
drive. If no and you are having other problems, post back with details so
we can help.

If you want the floppy, try to get a latest update of the floppy driver.
This type of problem was caused by
the driver.
