Disconnects

Dick Fleming

Windows 2000 disconnects from dial-up after about 4 hours.
No error message. Computer tries to reconnect but is
unsuccessful. A reboot solves the problem for another 4 hours.

Service provider says that they do have a 4 hour session
limit, but do not understand why reconnect fails.

Dick,

One that session is has reached the 4hr limit and your service provider
disconnects you, you cannot reconnnect that same session since they
terminated it on their end. You must create a new session.

You should not have to reboot though. You should just have to close the
session from your end and then dial in again. Make sure that you are not
trying to reconnect the old session. That should allow you to dial in again
without requiring a reboot. I hope this helps.
