Disabled task manager problem?

Hi,

Hoping someone can help me? I recently purchased a new laptop (HP Pavilion
ZV5000) running WinXPhome. Noone has used this except em and I did all the
registration at startup etc etc.

Thing is, I needed to get the task manager (ctrl alt del) to shut something
down and... I got the message "Task manager has been disabled by your
administrator"!

Now, the machine has only one account - mine - and that's an admin account.I
haven't knowingly removed or changed anything. I've done a virus scan,
nothing.

Is this entirely obvious, am I missing something?
