disable autoplay of multimedia files in side pane...

I need to disable autoplay of multimedia files in side
pane of a folder. It is driving me nuts. I have to
literaly go out of the folder and then back in so that it
isn't selected in that side show thingy of WMP 9, BUT I
don't want to lose my thumbnail ability.
How to unregister or disable that? I have looked
everywhere that I could think of. Any ideas?

1. go to C:\WINNT\Web
2. find the hidden/system file called folder.htt
3. make a backup of this file in case you want to change
it back (call it folderold.htt or someting)
4. Open folder.htt with notepad
5. Delete the line <span id=MediaPlayerSpan>
6. Save your changes and close the file

Now media player wont pop up but image preview will still
work!
