Direcway Satellite ICS problems

I have a new direcway internet system that is a two way
system connected by usb port. I already had a network
that was running fine with xp pro until the direcway was
installed. the direcway will work ok for a while after
reboot but stops suddenly after a few minutes. If i
disable the local network nic the direcway will browse ok
until the nic is enabled again. Direcway will not help me
saying they do not support networks but say it will work.
I have gone through all of the setup several times and
double checked all suggestions from windows and direcway
but nothing works. any help we be greatly appreciated.

On ANY direcway satellite system that uses the USB you
HAVE< to disable the DHCP functionality of the router.
Then you enable the Internet connection sharing on the
computer that is connected to the Satellite.

The ICS acts as a mini-DHCP server and assigns IP
addresses out to the other machine which is why you have
to disable the DHCP on the router. As a side note,
DirecWay will NOT support this setup. If you want to have
multiple systems on a satellite then they recommends
upgrading to the Small Business Package.

As a side note, check out the FAQ from DirecWay about
their new dw6000 modem. It actually has a Network port on
it.

Hello,

I have something similar and here's how I have my 2-way
Direcway set up and working fine.

I have 3 XP machines (one DELL PC and two laptops; 2 XP
Home and 1 Pro). The DELL PC (XP Home) has the USB 2-way
Direcway system connected to it. It is also running
ICS. The Ethernet NIC is plugged into a Microsoft MN510
Wireless Base Station. The laptops go wireless into the
system thru that. I changed it from a router to be run
in Bridging mode. The laptops get their IPs from the
DELL PC running ICS. They all get to the Internet from
that DELL PC without issue over Direcway.

Make sure you go to www.mydirecway.com and update to
their latest 2-way Service Pack. It fixed quite a lot of
connection and speed errors for me.
