Directory splitter to archirve to CD

I am looking for software, preferably freeware, that:

When pointed at a directory with subdirectories can SPLIT this up into 700MB
chunks to be archived to CD-R and/or DVD-RAM (must support CD-R).

I've tried various programs and none meet my needs.

If the software could output Adaptec/Roxio Easy CD-Creator work files to split
up the task(s) that would be great.

I am tired of having to manually split up the directories to fit on CD-R's.

No specific recommendation, but most archive utilities will split into
specified size chunks in addition to compressing.

you might want to try " splitter " from
http://www.martinstoeckli.ch/splitter/splitter.html
-- from the site --

What you can do with Splitter
Splitter splits files and directories (including subdirectories).
You can select any size of parts you like.
You can drag a file or directory from the windows explorer.
Splitter is able to handle very large parts (only limited by the
operating system).
Splitter automatically switches between English, German and French.
The date of the original files will be restored.
