automatic MP3 splitter - help! help!

I have an MP3 which contains a whole album. I want to split up into
tracks.

A few years ago I used a freeware utility to do exactly this. It
worked completely automatically. I just identified the MP3 file and
pressed a button and that was it.

Now today I have the same requirement to split up a large MP3 (66
MB). But I simply can't work out how to do it!

Can some please help me out.

----

(1) I have downloaded and run MP3 Direct Cut from
http://www.mpesch3.de/ but I simply can't make it split the MP3
automatically!

(2) I also tried MP3trim from http://www.logiccell.com/~mp3trim/ but
it doesn't seem to be the right sort of utility.

(3) I even tried CDex but all I managed to do was press the "Convert
Compressed Audio File to WAV File" (key F12). After it finished I
couldn't even find the output WAV file!

(4) Not freeware I know but I tried my trusty old Nero (ver
5.5.9.14). I drag & dropped the MP3 in Nero's CD-R window which
holds the new tracks to be burnt, Neros saw this as just one track, I
right clicked the track, selected "Properties", I went to the tab
marked "Indexes Limits Split", I pressed "New Index", I let it work
thu the MP3, pressed "Split at Index positions" ... and Nero says
there are no indexes.

----

ARGHHHHHH! I am now getting really frustrated. I need someone to
talk me through the button pressing as if I were a complete dummy. I
certainly feel like I am a dummy. :) Help! Help!

Do I need to convert the large MP3 to a WAV first? What do I use to
do that? Then what?

Or can I split the MP3 up directly?

Try this, you may find something here to work it out.

CQ thanks for the URL. It leads to:
http://www.cappycue.com/split.html
where the webpage lists the following free utilities to split a large
MP3:

MusiCutter
CueMaster
MP3DirectCut

As far as I can see, only MP3DirectCut is able to do the splitting
*automatically*.

And that is one of the utilities I mentioned that I had tried but
with no success! :-(

Is anyone else able to help out?
