direct connection between computers

Sam

Running XP Home and a XP Pro machine. How do I setup
these computers without a hub, a direct cable connection
between the PC and laptop? Any suggested links would be
helpful as well.

If it is just the 2 that you are connecting, a direct
connection is ideal, though make sure that you use a
crossover cable (not inline!)Any more than 2, and you
will need a hub. You will probably then need to join your
computers to a workgroup. For info on how to do this,
click START|HELP AND SUPPORT|then in the search box,
type:"join a workgroup". Windows help will tell you what
you need to know.

This is what you need , A cross over cable NOT THE PATCH
CABLE . IF
its just for connecting 2 computers and make them talk to
each other
then all you need to do is go the Network Connection >>
Properties >>
TCP/IP properties >> Manual Configuration >>

There you put 192.168.0.1 on your first comp
And 192.168.0.2 on your second computer

Now your all set

TO copy files and folders

Start >> run>>
Type \\192.168.0.1\C$ ( the dollar sign will help
you acces the
entire hard drive without sharing it ;) or
\\192.168.0.2\C$
