When I import to a graphics editor from a scanner I do it via the
scanners software. When I look at the dpi and size in cm/inch they are
wrong. Is this information meant to be passed?

I'm talking about importing a scan via TWAIN. With Microsoft Digital
Image Editor the dpi and size in cm is always wrong. XNView gets the
information correct.
