Digital Camera freezing everything on the screen

I have this Centrios digital camera bought at Radio-Shack and I used my
friend's computer to upload pictures. She has the latest Windows XP with
Service pack 2 installed - and a brand new laptop.

But once I plugged my camera, the computer took a long to recognize it, and
then couldn't transfer the pictures.

Also, now the computer seem to reboot everytime you open a file or a
program, saying that it need a .dll file.

Basically, I am looking for a way to repair that computer without having to
reinstalled everything.

Just to let you know that I used my camera on my laptop and it is an old IBM
Thinkpad with basic Windows 2000 on it, and I could see the pictures,
transfer them, and Windows 2000 is still running fine.

Set your bios to boot off the XP cdrom as the first boot device. Put the xp
cd rom in the drive and reboot. After the boot off the xp cd follow the
prompts to do a repair install that will fix xp.

If you don't have a CD from Windows XP. She bought the laptop and didn't get
any Windows CDs. Is it setup in the computer?
