Difficulty upgrading

Hi,

I'm installing Frontpage 2000 on my new laptop. The FP2000 is an upgrade
version and I have the media for the original FP98. Do I need to install the
FP98 first or is there a shortcut to getting FP2000 to recognise the media?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Install the FP2000. When it looks for a qualifying product, insert the
FP98 CD. Then swap the CDs again when required. It is not necessary to
install FP98 - this could even cause problems if your laptop is running
Vista or Windows XP.

Start installing the FP 2000 upgrade. When it asks for a qualifying prior
version, take the disk out and pop in FP 98..follow the prompts.

The difficulty is that the FP98 CD isn't reading very well and the
installation doesn't find it. I get an "inpage execution error" or similar.

Thanks though.

Try cleaning the CD. If that doesn't work, the disk has probably gone bad.

Try copying the FP98 disk to your hard disk. If you're lucky it will
be able to copy the files needed for upgrade verification. If no
files can be copied you're probably out of luck.
