Difference between XP and NT

Where can I find resources detailing the differences between Windows XP and Windows NT? I am particularly interested with the core of the operating system, since I am an applications developer and I noticed that there are newer API implementations in XP than in WinNT.

NT is about 8 years old. Of course there are newer implementations, of
EVERYTHING!

What I exactly wanted to know are the API's that have changed in WinXP. I am developing applications in Visual C++ and Visual Basic for both WinNT and WinXP, and I would like to make them platform-independent. Thank you for your comment, although I did not get much help from it. =)

Technical libraries on MSDN. XP is really Windows NT 5.1 - a
progressive development, and a minor change over Win2000 - apart from
the revamped GUI. While there are important modifications 'under the
hood', notably I think in Virtual memory handling, I don't think there
is all *that* much difference in API
