Difference between .iso and .exe files

Hello

I would like to know which is a better CD/DVD burning software ? Is it the
Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 Platinum or Nero 6 Ultra Edition ?

After I download the Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 Platinum and try to install it
I get the message " Data .Cab folder is corrupt " and it aborts the
installation. This has happened in successive file downloads. How do I
resolve this ?

On searching a filesharing database in Kazaa Lite for Nero I get a few files
with more than 200000 KB in size but with .iso extension. The other files
which are slightly smaller in size have .exe extension. Please could you
tell me what is the difference between an .iso file and .exe file. Which is
more reliable, functional and have all the features ? Do I need a special
program to install an .iso file ?

I have used Nero for some time for both audio and video. A first class
programme. .iso I believe is a cad related file concerned with graphics.
..exe is an executable (application) file used for starting programmes such a
MS Word and even Outlook Express. (msimn.ex)

I use Creative CD Creator but you can go to download.com and download

IsoBuster which will decode and copy the file to a CD. You first
have to convert an .iso file. Then you can install it.

Actually, it's mainly a matter of personal preference. I prefer to use
Nero. I switched after ez cd creator had some problems a little while
back. They have those problems fixed as far as I know, but I have just
stuck with Nero.

an ISO file is what is called a CD Image file. This file is basically a
file that holds all of the files and file structure for a cd. you must
have a program that will write a cd from an image file to use this.
Nero, ez cd creator, fireburner will all do this for you.

As for downloading from Kazaa, you are asking for problems when you do
this. but the best way you can burn an iso file is to get fireburner
which is free. http://www.fireburner.com

ISO files are cd image files. Also, I have seen AutoCad use ISO files
as well. Have you tried Feurio for your audio cd's? To me, this is the
best application to burn audio.

That is a matter of opinion and tastes. You will find strong opinions
on both sides. I have both; I find I use Nero more, but that Easy CD
has perhaps a friendlier interface for a new user.

If you cannot get a clean download (and it may be a corrupt file on the
server, so check that successive downloads exactly match, and if they do
let the supplier know) then you are probably best get a CD sent, or buy
in a computer store on CD

An ISO is an *exact* image of a CD, including the file system and
control data (Table of Contents). So burning it ('Burn Image in Nero)
gives a new CD just like the original - useful if it is to be a bootable
CD in particular
