Hi,

I am running Windows XP home SP2 on my pc, I am connected via broadband
but have a couple of dialups as fail safes if the broadband goes down.

Over the last couple of days I keep getting the Network Connections
popup asking me to choose a connection even though I am connected using
broadband, I have the settings selected for LAN

Any ideas?

Thanks

Gerald

Probably there are some minor service or power interruptions that are
causing Windows to think the service is gone, and you have Windows set to
dial a connection when one isn't present. Turn that off.

Also, this might indicate that you are connecting directly to the DSL or
Cable modem. A router is a very good idea; they are cheap, easy to
configure, add a good layer of protection, add versatility and will help
minimize that kind of problem.

Put the router and the modem on a small battery UPS, so that they get clean
uninterrupted power, and they will be stabler and last longer.
