Nothing appears to happen when you run winword /r, but it
"reregisters"
Word; that is, it reestablishes Word's association with the .doc and
.dot
file types in the Windows Registry. Have you tried opening a Word
doc since
running it?

Hi Beth,
Thanks for your reply. I am opening existing documents from my
documents
or even those received from mail (Microsoft Outlook) It doesn't make
any
difference it always asks me to close opened dialog box
I ran winword /r and nothing happened. Sorry but was anything meant
to occur when doing this?
Cheers

Hi Simmo,
How are you opening the document? Are you double-clicking it in an
Exploring window such as your Desktop or My Computer?
If so then it could be caused by a problem in your file
association. Go to Start/Run and run:
winword /r
Note the space before the forward slash.

:
When opening an existing word document, the following Dialog Box
opens with:
"The command can not be performed because a dialog box is opened.
Click, then close open dialog boxes to continue"
This is very annoying as I click ok the diaglog box closes and the
word doc opens. Very frustrating. Any ideas on fixing this?
