Word 2003

everytime I try to open word 2003, a box appears saying "The command cannot
be performed because a dialog box is open. Click ok, and then close open
dialog boxes to continue".
a. There are never any dialog boxes open.
b. Within 30 to 45 seconds of clicking on the ok button, word comes on.
c. This fault just appeared, I do not know why or when it started but its
annoying.
please help.
